Florida Man Arrested for Battery After Harassing Guest at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

A man was arrested for battery after a woman said he grabbed himself and touched her leg while seated next to her at For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration last month, according to a sheriff’s arrest report.

The August 25 incident occurred inside the theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. A 22-year-old woman from upstate New York was waiting for the show to start when a man, later identified as Axel Vaughn, sat down next to her and her sister.

“Once the show started, the male started putting his right hand down his seat and tapping the back of [the 22-year-old’s] seat near the bottom,” the arrest report said.
The 22-year-old described Vaughn as grabbing and rubbing his crotch over his clothes. However, she told authorities he did not expose himself.

“[She] said the male continued reaching down between the seats while rubbing his private area. [The 22-year-old] said during the show, the male reached over and touched her right leg over her jean shorts. [She] said the male …did it again, and [she] stood up and moved her seat before telling her sister to move,” the report said.

The woman contacted Disney security, who reached out to law enforcement.
The arrest report also mentioned an unidentified victim who reported a battery at the park that same day, but refused to talk to law enforcement and did not want to press charges. The victim reported being touched by a Black man in a bright shirt, which is similar to the description given by the 22-year-old.

An Orange County Sheriff’s deputy arrested Axel Vaughn, 21, of Davenport, Florida. However, last week, the Orange-Osceola State Attorney’s Office decided not to pursue criminal charges against him.

“From the investigation which has been made, it is the opinion of the writer that this case is not suitable for prosecution,” said the September 14 court filing.

The state attorney’s office did not respond to a request for comment this week to provide more insight on the decision not to prosecute Vaughn. Disney representatives also did not respond to a request for comment.

Vaughn, who was trespassed from Disney property, confessed, according to the sheriff’s arrest report. The deputy suspected Vaughn might have a disability, but the arrest report did not elaborate.

Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy Jonathan Canada wrote in his report, “I asked Axel if he knew why we were speaking with him, and he said, ‘Because I touched two people.’ I asked him where it happened, and he said, ‘Frozen.’ I asked him why he touched her, and he said, ‘Sexual gratification.’ I asked him if he ever did that before, and he said no. I asked him why he did it, and he said he didn’t know.”

Vaughn was taken to Orange County Jail.

The 22-year-old wanted to pursue criminal charges and said she would testify in court against Vaughn, the arrest report said.

Vaughn did not have an attorney listed in online court records and could not be reached for comment.
