Demolition has begun on Primeval Whirl at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The attraction’s official closing was announced in July 2020, and construction walls were recently erected.

Now, demolition has begun on the Dinoland U.S.A. attraction.

At the bottom of the lift hill, the end of the chain is detached and lying across the catwalk.

The biggest change is the removal of the large set pieces from the top of the chain lift.

Three of the “time travel” archways currently remain.

The final archway, formerly from the top of the hill, can be seen on the ground.

The pieces that made up the whirling portal have also been removed.

The removed pieces lay within the construction walls for now.

  1. To be honest, I’m glad they’re taking down this ride. But I wrote it it made me sick and was really rough. It reminded me of the Ninja ride in Six Flags. I’m just thankful they’re not taking down Splash Mountain! Save Splash Mountain!! Please sign the petition on change.org to keep Splash Mountain as it is in Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom! They should just expand the park, an add Princess and the Frog attraction!!

  2. To be honest, what a strange time to get rid of this. The parks will have people coming in for the 50th anniversary and with this gone, it’s one fewer attraction not to mention the Everest refurbishment.

  3. Oh, thank goodness. It just goes to show that, for every seven terrible things that happen at Chapek’s Disney, one nice one might happen.
