As Muppet fans await the arrival of “Muppets Haunted Mansion” on Disney+ this fall, guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios can get a taste of what’s to come… literally.
A new Muppets Haunted Mansion éclair has materialized at PizzeRizzo. This chocolate éclair is stuffed with a dark chocolate filling and topped with purple buttercream, crispy pearls, and a chocolate image featuring a Muppet in a parody of the famed stretching room portraits, The éclairs come with one of four different designs on top, though the eclair itself is the same.
Strangely, the merry widow on her late husband’s gravestone has been omitted, replaced with a spoof of the wallpaper patterns seen in the attraction, featuring the faces of Gonzo and Pepe the King Prawn. Meanwhile, Link Hogthrob, Dr. Julius Strangepork and Miss Poogy (from the 2011 film “The Muppets”) take the place of the three gentlemen sinking in quicksand.
Crazy Harry stands proudly on a keg of dynamite, while Janice daintily walks on a tightrope above a hungry alligator.
This definitely wasn’t your typical éclair! While the portrait may be some of the best dessert artwork we have ever seen, the taste is far less spectacular. It’s just a typical — though quite rich — piece of chocolate.
Speaking of rich, the dark chocolate filling wasn’t lacking in intensity! This was definitely the first thing we noticed when we took bite. If you’re a fan of dark chocolate, this will be right up your alley.
The pastry itself wasn’t rich, but it wasn’t exactly sweet either. It just held a very basic chocolate flavor, but that’s exactly what’s needed in a dessert like this where the rest of the flavors stick out so much.
The buttercream on top was great, even if it was just a standard and sweet frosting. The crunchy pearls didn’t have much taste, but added a unique texture and looked nice. Overall, this doesn’t totally stand out stacked against some of the other incredible dessert at the parks, but it would be definitely worth a try if just for the amazing decoration!
The éclair sells for $5.49. It’ll certainly tide us over until the fun begins on Disney+, though no formal release date for the special has been announced.

How awesome!! I love the Muppets!! I hope they come out with Haunted Mansion Muppet plush toys too!! Disney should also remake Bean Bunny plush from Muppet Vision 3D!! Speaking of merchandise, Disney should bring back splash mountain merchandise!! Save Splash Mountain! Sign the petition on change.org to keep Splash Mountain as it is in Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom! Disney should expand the parks and add a princess and the frog attraction!
