  1. I don’t like it, but we will be adding Genie+ for our trip in March. I am completely disgusted by the individual Lightning Lane idea though. The fact that I’m already paying for park tickets each day, as well as $60 per day for Genie+ (for a family of 4) should be enough…but now I might need to pay ANOTHER $60 just so my family can ride RotR (without waiting in a ridiculously long line)? Genie+ should include ALL rides. So frustrating to see all these extra costs since our last trip…no more luggage to the room service, no Magical Express, no more free MagicBands or FastPass…when does it end??

  2. Disney is not what it used to be!!! MONEY, MONEY, MONEY is all that they want. It is sad , no more is it THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH because so many cannot afford all the hikes in prices. SHAME ON DISNEY! Never did I ever think this would happen!

      • This is an excellent question. The answer is, BOTH.

Genie+ (used for lower tier rides) is $15 per person per day. This grants guests access to MOST of the rides in any given Disney park. The Lightning Lanes (used for higher tier rides) allow you an “a la cart” option to purchase TWO additional passes to jump to the front of a line (per day) and can be used on rides NOT INCLUDED in the standard Genie+ option. These additional passes can cost as much as $15 per person per ride. Know though that some additional passes can cost as little as $7 per person per ride. It all depends on which ride you want to ride and on what calendar day. It’ not at all confusing (very heavy sarcasm). :)

      • Both. You pay $15 a day for access to what used to be FastPass for most rides. Then, two special rides per park have an additional cost of up to $15 to get in their Lightning Lane/FastPass lane (even if you paid the $15 for the Genie+ service).

I watched a video where a guy bought both AKL special rides (Flight of Passage and Expedition Everest) and the Genie+ for the rest of the rides and spent $33 on top of his ticket. He was alone, so $33 wasn’t too bad, but for families it could be prohibitive. That said, he did get on 3 rides in one hour in the middle of the day,
