Disney has changed the language surrounding indoor character “meet-and-greets,” which will return to Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios next month. The Walt Disney World website now refers to these appearances “sightings.”
For example, the page for meeting Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater in Magic Kingdom now calls the experience a “sighting with Mickey.”
Guests will not be allowed to hug characters or get autographs but can enjoy one-on-one time with the characters and take photos, not unlike the outdoor character appearances throughout the parks. Exactly how much distance between guests and characters will be required has not been announced.
A return date for these “sightings” has also not been announced, but guests will be able to see the following characters starting in November:
- Disney Princesses at Princess Fairytale Hall in the Magic Kingdom
- Mickey Mouse in his 50th Anniversary EARidescent outfit at Town Square Theater in the Magic Kingdom
- Minnie Mouse at Red Carpet Dreams in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Disney Junior Stars in the Animation Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
The Walt Disney World website only refers to “sightings” with Cinderella and Tiana at Princess Fairytale Hall, indicating Elena and Rapunzel may not be appearing.

considering we are going to stay at the dvc deluxe resorts and never enter the parks, i could care less what they choose to call it. so much money for so little magic anymore. my husband does enjoy some poolside “sightings” though.
I wonder if there will be a Photo-pass photographer there. Any word on that?
What about Epcot? Will the characters do any socially distanced indoor meet and greets?
