Disney has announced new pin trading boxes and boards to be officially introduced on October 15. We already saw one of these mystery pin trading boxes in action at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Cast Members have not been wearing pin trading lanyards and pins have been sanitized before they are traded.
At mystery trading boxes—which feature a new pin trading logo—guests hand over the pin they want to trade and select a numbered drawer. The Cast Member will then open the drawer and present the guest with their new Disney pin.
New Mickey-shaped boards are also being introduced throughout Walt Disney World, working the same way as previous pin boards. Guests are allowed two exchanges per pin trading location.
Pin trading locations are designated on Walt Disney World Resort guidemaps and can be found at all four theme parks, Disney Springs, hotels, and other select locations.

Did they note what theybwere doing to curtail scrappers? Because I would NEVER want to trade a $10-15 in a mystery scrap box.
We were at AK last week and the Africa spot had the mystery box. Honestly, we do not like it and we hope this will not happen at all pin trading areas. We are generally looking for specific pin collections, and it is a waste of time to stand there and pick 2 numbers and than not even like what is in the box. I hope this does not last!
Agree completely. At MK it seems like they have completely switched to the random method. We only found two very over traded boards. Not sure what on earth they are thinking.
