Good morning from the bright and sunny Animal Kingdom! Today we celebrated Disney+ Day in the parks with some fun surprises. We also got to see the return of the Merry Menagerie puppets, which were a huge crowd pleaser, as well as some of our favorite characters aboard the Festive Flotillas. Let’s check it out!
Today only Disney+ subscribers got to enter the parks 30 minutes early, and they definitely showed up.
Disney was handing out free Disney+ Day 11.12.21 buttons and hats. Many guests wore them proudly.
Disney featured three special PhotoPass options throughout the park. If you are a subscriber, you will receive them in your My Disney Experience App for free. One of the locations offered props to hold while two offered magic shot exclusives.
This gorgeous mural is back up across from Tiffins Restaurant to promote the Merry Menagerie puppets. It does make for a great photo spot.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom debuted the Merry Menagerie puppets this year after being off for a year due to Covid. They offered some exclusive merchandise for the occasion.
Musicians graced us with the beautiful sound of holiday music during the show.
These puppets blink, wag their tails, and can move their limbs, all controlled by Cast Members. It’s pretty neat when you think about it.
The amount of compassion the animals showed towards the guests was very touching. They also did a great job getting the crowd involved with petting them and enjoying smiles all around.
If you’ve never seen The Merry Menagerie in person, you should head over to Animal Kingdom and check them out this holiday season. They are located in front of the Tree of Life.
Today also started the holiday festive flotillas. We saw a total of five flotillas today but that doesn’t mean you won’t see more, or different varieties in the future. Be sure to keep an eye on the river while you’re walking over the bridges. You never know who you might see.
