PHOTOS: Empire Previews Upcoming “The Book of Boba Fett” Series Coming December 29th to Disney+
While plenty of Star Wars fans flocked to Disney+ for the critically-acclaimed series The Mandalorian, the upcoming The Book of Boba Fett series brings things back to the original Mandalorian we all know and love, and how he came to build his crime empire. And today, creators Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and director Robert Rodriguez gave an exclusive interview to Empire Magazine ahead of a long-form feature in their January 2022 issue.
Empire gave a brief teaser of their full interview with Jon Favreau. The show is essentially a spin-off of The Mandalorian, with the post-credits stinger at the end of season 2 revealing that Bib Fortuna had briefly taken over Jabba the Hutt’s crime empire before Boba Fett quickly dispatched him. The series takes over from that point, with Favreau saying:
“There is a power vacuum, because Jabba is gone. Jabba was clearly a very strong and imposing leader, who people were very scared of, and who seemed to rule with an iron fist. You pull somebody like that out of the ecosystem of Tatooine – and Hutt Space in general – and you have the opportunity that’s ripe in the gangster genre. Although Boba Fett is a very experienced bounty hunter, he’s not experienced at running a criminal syndicate or managing forces. He’s not normally a newcomer. He’s an expert as we see him in most areas. But in this case, he’s trying to transition to another position.”

Empire’s full issue releasing later this month will include full interviews with Jon Favreau, Robert Rodriguez, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen along with plenty of exclusive new pictures, and releases November 25th. The Book of Boba Fett meanwhile begins streaming December 29th on Disney+.
