The holiday season is here at Disneyland, and while the limited time offerings at Hungry Bear Restaurant aren’t festive in appearance, they should not be missed. We tried both the Spicy BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger and the Loaded Zero Bowl.
Spicy BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger – $13.49
1/3 lb Angus Beef Patty served with Applewood Smoked Bacon, American Cheese, Onion Ring, Pickled Jalapeños and BBQ Sauce served with Cuties® Mandarin Oranges or French Fries
This was the best counter service burger in Disneyland history. The burger patty is on the thin side, but it has a charred exterior and a nice juicy interior. It tastes like a very good Burger King patty. The toppings are what take it over the top: nice spicy jalapeños, big crunchy onion rings, tangy BBQ sauce. The bun is also buttery and soft. A winner.
Loaded French Fries with Zero Bowl – $12.99
Choice of French Fries or Crispy Onion Rings, topped with a Creamy Cheesy Sauce, Crispy Bacon, and Green Onions served in a Zero Bowl
The fries are still not our favorite, but the cheese sauce is high quality, almost like a beer cheese, rather than the “plastic” cheese often served. The dish overall is really salty. It’s enjoyable, but the real highlight here is the Zero bowl.
Shaped like a dog bowl, this souvenir dish features Jack Skellington’s ghostly canine companion, Zero.
