A modified version of a single-rider line is now testing at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Instead of a line for parties of one guest, this new test is a line for parties of two guests.
A New Two-Rider Line Testing
Starting today at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, groups of two guests can enter the single rider line at the entrance to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. This line runs on the left side adjacent to the traditional standby line, but skips the preshow scene with Hondo Onaka. The signage for the line still only says “Single Rider,” but Cast Members are letting parties of two inside as well as actual single riders. Disney may change the signage wording for the line if this test becomes a permanent solution.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is an attraction where guests enter the cockpit of the famous “Star Wars” ship and act as either a pilot, gunner, or engineer. Each cockpit seats a total of six guests, with guests completing the same job sitting across from each other.
This unique seating arrangement has made loading guests into the attraction slightly more complicated, since only two groups of three guests can be seated in one cockpit. To seat a party of four, Cast Members must then seat a group of two or two single riders to fill the six spaces. Disney has previously used a single-rider line for this attraction, with wait times for single-riders often being significantly shorter than the standard queue.
Using the new two-rider option, Cast Members first take a larger party from the regular standby line. If the party is a group of four, the Cast Members search the single rider line for a party of two. If the larger party is five people, the Cast Members find a single rider as normal.
