A new spicy meatball sandwich is available at Refreshment Corner in Disneyland Park. It’s difficult to mess up a meatball sandwich. Let’s see how Disney did with this spicy version.

Spicy Meatball Sandwich — $10.49

House-made Meatballs, Marinara, Shredded Mozzarella and Cheese Sauce on a Toasted Garlic Hoagie Roll

This sandwich proves that good individual components don’t make for an outstanding sandwich.

The spicy meatball itself is fine. It is a classic meatball with a touch of spice. The problem is that the meatball is too large and firm.

The roll is soft. Add the marinara sauce and melted cheese and the entire sandwich becomes a soggy mess.

This meatball would be fine with a side of spaghetti. It’s just too dense to be used in a sandwich.

Although the taste of each component is good, the combined components don’t make for a structurally sound sandwich. We ended up eating the spicy meatball on its own, using the soggy roll to mop up the cheese and marinara. This is not something we would order again.
