The former Future World at EPCOT is a wonderland of ongoing construction at the moment as the overhaul of the front half of the park takes place. Future World is becoming the new neighborhoods of World Celebration, World Discovery and World Nature. In World Celebration, the Journey of Water and Connections Café and Eatery are currently under construction. Let’s take a look at the state of things as they stand today.
At Connections Café and Eatery, we saw these roof panels being installed just over a week ago, and now it appears some new window panes have gone up to the left of the open doorway.
In the breezeway to the left, we saw a doorframe and new overhangs were installed just the other day.
The center of World Celebration behind Spaceship Earth is entirely surrounded in construction walls.
As guests leave World Showcase behind them and head back to World Celebration, they are directed by signage to either go left and enter World Nature or go right and enter World Discovery while the construction is underway.
The future site of Connections Café and Eatery lies just beyond the Creations Shop to the right.
Various tents, facilities and supplies have been temporarily erected for the construction crews to use, and these are strewn about behind the construction walls.
Looking toward World Nature, we can see the progress of Journey of Water, inspired by Moana.
As we move further over to World Nature, the Creations Shop looms in the distance, with Connections Café and Eatery to its left.
This cement structure seen through the trees is the beginning of the Journey of Water construction area.
Walls have been erected along what will likely be the bases of rocky façades for the walkthrough attraction.
Large trenches have been dug around the site, with this large excavated pit as the most noticeable area.
And finally, more construction activity on the World Discovery side of Spaceship Earth, between the attraction and Guest Relations.
