REVIEW: Christmas Tim Black Tea Cream & Berry Cookie Sandwich is a Surprisingly Delightful Holiday Treat at Universal Studios Japan

Although we may not be so familiar with him in the United States, the Minions go hand in hand with their adorable stuffed bear Tim at Universal Studios Japan, with plenty of merchandise to accompany. So when we were offered a taste of the new Christmas Tim Black Tea Cream & Berry Cookie Sandwich for the holidays, we simply couldn’t say no!

Christmas Tim Black Tea Cream & Berry Cookie Sandwich – Â¥600 ($5.29)

The cookie sandwich comes from Delicious Me in Minion Park, right next to Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem. Tim’s adorable teddy bear head makes up the form of the cookie, complete with printed button eyes, a nose, and tongue. The wrapper surrounding him features a Santa hat, Christmas trees, wreaths, and a plaid pattern on the back reminiscent of comfy winter wear.

Removing one half of the sandwich reveals this rather disheveled and easily displaced interior filling, complete with blueberries, maraschino cherries, and some little strawberry chunks. Underneath the berries, just barely visible, is the gray black tea cream.

Surprisingly, these two flavors complement each other quite well. The black tea is strong enough that it offsets the usually-overpowering berry flavor, creating a delicious sweet-savory combination that’s perfect for a quick bite on the way to Minion orientation with Gru. The downside, however, is that the hard cookies that make up the buns can easily displace the berries inside, leading to lots of dropped berries if you’re not very careful. Keep the wrapper handy either as a catcher or as a way to hold the cookie as the park intended, because you’ll definitely need it. All in all, we highly recommend this for a bit of a twist on a traditional treat when you visit Universal Studios Japan.

The wrapper even without the cookie is pretty adorable too, especially with the banana bunches gone astray.

You can find these cookies at Delicious Me through the end of the Christmas season in January. Would you give this black tea-berry combination a go? Let us know in the comments!
