Spicy Three-Cup Chicken – $8.00

served on a bed of jasmine rice

Firecracker Three Cup Chicken 01

This little cup of chicken and rice packs a punch. By far one of the better savory dishes; this is full of spicy flavor.

Firecracker Three Cup Chicken 04

The portion is a bit small for the price, but this spicy bowl of fun will give you a kick if that’s what you’re looking for. We don’t normally like dark meat chicken, but we ate this without any problems. The rice and chicken were perfectly cooked. The sauce was slightly sweet to offset the spice from the chili pepper.

Firecracker Three Cup Chicken 03

This was garnished nicely. Most hungry guests would enjoy this.

*NEW* Impossible Lion’s Head Meatballs – $7.50

Mini plant-based pork meatballs served with cabbage and Shaoxing wine reduction

This is a great meatless meatball with a fantastic sauce.

The cabbage soaks up a lot of the sauce and brings a pungent twang to the dish when eaten together.

We don’t even really miss the meat; this impossible meatball is fantastic. Overall, we enjoyed this and would get it again.

Mickey Purple Sweet Potato Macaron – $6.50

Red macaron filled with purple sweet potato buttercream and crème fraîche center

Purple Yam Macaron 06

This macaron returns from previous years and is always a fun treat.

Purple Yam Macaron 05

Like all the Lunar New Year food offerings, this is simple and beautiful. The shell cracked apart in a satisfying way.

Purple Yam Macaron 03

The purple filling was an interesting color against the red shell, and if we didn’t know it was yam, I likely wouldn’t have guessed.

Purple Yam Macaron 04

This was a simple dessert that could easily be shared with several guests.

Purple Yam Macaron 02

Sadly, no hidden sprinkles, but just more creamy goodness.

Purple Yam Macaron 01

This dessert rounded out this booth nicely to cool down your palate after some spice.

*NEW* Dancing Firecracker (non-alcoholic) – $6.50

Pineapple juice, guava purée, spicy honey syrup, hibiscus syrup, and lime juice

It’s comprised of super sweet juice with a surprising kick of heat. As one of the few non-alcoholic drinks at the festival, this still may not be a great option for kids. The amount of heat the Dancing Firecracker packs could be off-putting to a child. An adult looking for a non-alcoholic drink may enjoy this.

It’s not bad, but we probably would not opt for this with so many other cocktails available.

*NEW* Master Gao Brewery Baby Jasmine Tea Lager, China (5.4% ABV)

From TotalWine.com: “Jasmine Tea Lager uses Jasmine Tea produced in Guangxi province. The overall tea flavor on the beer is mild as to complement the lager quality of the beer, making this a very easy to drinking & refreshing beer.”
