REVIEW: Overpriced Pre-Mixed Drinks and Boring Food from El Artista Hambriento for the 2022 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts
“Delight in classic Mexican fare that’s sure to satisfy artists of any age” is how El Artista Hambriento is described for the 2022 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts. This booth is returning for its sixth festival appearance, and this year it brings two new dishes and beverages.
Menu for El Artista Hambriento at the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts
🆕 Huarache Verde: Cilantro Huarache with Cochinita Pibil, Fresh Pineapple and Pickled Onion – $7.50
Festival dishes should be interesting and unique, but this is just carne asada over a grilled, cold slab of cheese. The beef is fine, tender, and juicy, with a charred exterior, but this isn’t interesting enough to be worth this price.
Taco de Chocolate: Chocolate Candy Shell filled with Mexican Chocolate Mousse with a touch of Chile topped with Seasonal Fruit – $6.50
This was sadly forgettable. The generic chocolate cream was covered with a fine chocolate shell. It tasted like something out of a box in your grocer’s freezer. And for the price, you’re probably better off shopping for it there.
Mexican Craft Beer: Tulum Artisanal Lager (4.0% ABV) crafted with Citrus notes and made with Mexican Caribbean Seawater – $10.00
The only good reason to wait in line here. A light lager with a distinct saltiness from the seawater and a light hint of citrus throughout. A rare beer worth ordering if you want to try it.
As seen in the video above, this comes out smoking, but it lasts about 15 seconds, thanks to the hole in the lid. Again, this is premixed, and it tastes like it. Way too thick and syrupy to be enjoyed. Hard pass.
