Mardi Gras 2022 food booths have begun to open at Universal Studios Florida. Our favorite arepas have returned, as have yucca fries with a new Chimichurri sauce.

- Carnitas Arepas: Cornmeal cake filled with roasted pork shoulder, cojita cheese, mayo-ketchup, and micro cilantro – $9.49
- Picadillo Arepas: Cornmeal cake filled with seasoned picadillo beef, cojita cheese, mayo-ketchup, and micro cilantro – $9.49
- Mozzarella Arepas: Cornmeal cake filled with shredded mozzarella cheese – $8.49

Carnitas Arepa – $9.49
Cornmeal cake filled with roasted pork shoulder, cojita cheese, mayo-ketchup, and micro cilantro
The pork in this arepa was tender and juicy.
All three arepas debuted at last year’s Mardi Gras, and they’re just as good every time they return. We recommend these for those looking for a filling snack or a light entrée.
Picadillo Arepa – $9.49
Cornmeal cake filled with seasoned picadillo beef, cojita cheese, mayo-ketchup, and micro cilantro
The beef picadillo was amazing. We aren’t sure which is better, this or the carnitas.
The picadillo is savory and gets a lot of flavor from the peppers and onions mixed in.
Queso Blanco Arepa – $8.49
Cornmeal cake filled with shredded mozzarella cheese
Out of the three, this is the weakest. Kids and picky eaters will probably enjoy this option, but we wish there was something else going on to liven up the pocket.
Yucca Fries with Chimichurri – $3.99
The yucca fries have returned with new chimichurri sauce. We loved them when they debuted last summer, so we were eager to try them again.
The chimichurri is much different than the summer dip, but it’s delicious.
It’s sweet with a kick, and it takes these yucca fries out of this world.
We love the crispy, crunchy yucca fries with this light, sweet, and spicy sauce.
The order is small, but it’s not too expensive, so we definitely will get these again.
