Poseidon's Fury Trident Torn Down at Universal Islands of Adventure

Demolition of The Lost Continent at Universal Islands of Adventure has been ongoing since November 2025, and the latest structure to fall is the Trident in front of Poseidon’s Fury.

In the latest photos from aerial photographer @bioreconstruct, demolition of the plaza in front of Poseidon’s Fury can be seen, along with the Trident that now lies on the ground in pieces.

A wider view shows the scope of the demolition taking place. The Trident was a massive monument that marked the entrance to the park’s Poseidon’s Fury attraction. The Trident and surrounding temple ruins are being demolished as Universal clears the Lost Continent land. Universal has not announced what land or attractions might replace Lost Continent.

Tree clearing in Lost Continent began last fall after Universal Orlando Resort confirmed upcoming “construction activity” in the land. Universal said this work was to “ensure the area is ready for any future developments.”

As we reported on June 14, Sinbad Theater is now completely demolished. Mythos Restaurant is planned to close in 2027.

Lost Continent was once twice its current size. In 2010, it was partially taken over by The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Its former coasters, Dueling Dragons and Flying Unicorn, were turned into Dragon Challenge and Flight of the Hippogriff, respectively. Dragon Challenge closed permanently in 2017 and was replaced by Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure.
