REVIEW: Arancini and Ravioli alla Boscaiola from Primavera Kitchen Keep a Bad Italian Food Tradition Alive at the 2022 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival

We’re ready to take on the Italy food booth while we’re here visiting the 2022 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival (not really, but we have to eat it, so let’s do this!)

*Price per bottle is an average price of the spirit at your local liquor store.

  • Peroni Pilsner (5.1% ABV) – $6.00 for 6 oz., $10.00 for 12 oz.
  • Pinot Grigio – $10.00
  • Chianti – $10.00
  • Prosecco – $10.00
  • Rosa Regale – $11.00
  • Moscato – $11.00
  • Italian White Sangria with Prosecco – $11.00

  • Frozen Italian Margarita with Limoncello and Tequila – $11.00

All three food items were previously seen at L’Arte di Mangiare at the 2022 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, though all have undergone some changes. The Arancini has replaced its accompanying Pomodoro sauce with a grape tomato salad and balsamic emulsion, while the Ravioli alla Boscaiola comes with sweet corn, spring vegetables and a cream sauce, and the Bomboloni now has a cream filling and a raspberry sauce, last used at the Italy Marketplace during the 2021 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival.

Arancini: Fried Risotto Balls stuffed with Braised Beef served with Grape Tomato Salad and Balsamic Emulsion – $14.00

As far as texture and consistency go, these were decent. The inside was nice and just moist enough, while the outside was light and crispy.

That being said, the flavor was pretty bland overall.

The accompanying tomatoes were light and fresh, but they’re not enough to save the dish.

*NEW* Ravioli alla Boscaiola: Sweet Sausage Ravioli with Sweet Corn, Spring Vegetables and Cream Sauce – $13.00

ravioli alla boscaiola 1 1

This was not very pretty. The ravioli was chewy and rubbery, but it had nothing to do really with it being left out for a while.

Peas weren’t listed as part of the ingredients, but they’re likely part of the “spring vegetables.”

It tasted like frozen vegetables and ravioli with a sausage aftertaste. In keeping with Italy Pavilion festival tradition, this is just plain bad.

*NEW* Bomboloni: Cream-filled Italian Doughnut with Raspberry Sauce and Powdered Sugar – $12.00

While these may look attractive, they proved to be just another disappointment. The doughnuts were a little stale, which is never a good sign. The cream inside had little to no flavor. Just a big letdown. Skip this.

Peroni Pilsner (5.1% ABV) – $6.00 for 6 oz., $10.00 for 12 oz.

Peroni Brewery describes their beer as “a crisp and refreshing beer with a delicate balance of bitterness, citrus and spicy aromatic notes, combined with a fast and clean finish.”

Italian White Sangria with Prosecco – $11.00

Italian White Sangria with Prosecco – $

Usually, when a Sangria beverage of this price contains more juice than wine, we would complain. However, since the wine in this drink tasted particularly cheap and unpleasant, in this case it was somewhat of a relief. The drink was supposed to contain Prosecco, however this was unidentifiable from the lack of fizz in the drink.

Italian Red Sangria with Cabernet Sauvignon – $11.00

Italian Red Sangria with Cabernet Sauvignon – $

Have you ever put red wine in the microwave? That’s what this is. We thought sangria came with ice and fruit, but this was just a room temperature liquid. The flavor was fruity, so it could have been really good, but as it got hotter, it was just too warm to drink.

Frozen Italian Margarita with Limoncello and Tequila – $11.00

Frozen Italian Margarita with Limoncello and Tequila – $

The margarita was quite good as it tasted almost like a melting lemon ice dessert. However, there didn’t seem to be much liquor in the drink, as we didn’t taste much besides the faint hint of tequila. Overall, this is a tasty drink, but don’t expect to get much alcohol for your money here.
