REVIEW: New Jackfruit Gyro, Vegetable Korma, and Petit Pluto Cake Provide a Mixed Bag at Sunshine Seasons in EPCOT

We stopped into Sunshine Seasons at EPCOT to try two Vegan dishes and the new Pluto Petit Cake.

Jackfruit Gyro – $9.99

with Plant-based Tzatziki

The Jackfruit Gyro is a grab-and-go option at Sunshine Seasons.

The gyro was interesting. You can tell this isn’t meat, but it’s trying to be. It’s too salty and almost too sweet.

It doesn’t taste as though it was prepared correctly. The seasoning doesn’t match the flavor it’s supposed to be.

The flatbread part of this is fine, and the veggies add some freshness.

The tzatziki sauce is coconut-based and tastes like butter.

Vegetable Korma – $9.99

With plant-based chicken and cashews

The jasmine rice was tasty and lightly salted.

The main entree is one note. It’s reminiscent of a subdued cashew chicken dish.

The spices are subtle, and they all meld together. The carrots and cashews add crunch. However, we could have done with more “chicken.”

This would be good if you are vegan to have options, but it’s not something we’re reaching for during a 100 degree summer day.

Pluto Petit Cake – $6.29

Mango mousse cake with honey jelly

This cute cake is pretty good.

The mousse is mango for sure and lightly sweet.

pluto petite cake 3

The cake is airy, sweet, and light.

The honey jelly was almost the consistency of a gumdrop, and the texture was a bit off-putting.

The bottom is slightly saturated and was leaking.

Overall, the Pluto Petit Cake was a good dessert, and we would get it again!

As far as the main entrees go, it’s good to see more vegan options, but these two are just ok. The Vegetable Korma makes a decent vegan option, but pass on the jackfruit.

  1. If you going to review vegan options, please do it with the plant based dessert option not a pork gelatin mousse item.
