Rick Riordan Announces ‘Percy Jackson’ Disney+ Series Will Have Eight Episodes, First Four Scripts Written

The first season of the Disney+ series inspired by “Percy Jackson & the Olympians” will have eight episodes, Rick Riordan has confirmed.

Riordan, the author of the “Percy Jackson” book series, is involved in the development of the series and co-wrote the pilot episode. The series has been in development for a few years now and was officially greenlit earlier this year.

In a recent blog post about pre-production, Riordan said there will be eight episodes, writing, “We have scripts for the first four episodes pretty much done, and are hard at work on the remaining four of season one.”

The first season will cover the first book of the series, “The Lightning Thief.” If successful, Riordan and Disney will hopefully make more seasons covering the rest of the series.
