These are char siu-glazed chicken drumsticks.
Char Siu Chicken Tip-Yip Drumsticks – $10.99
These are phenomenal. The sweet red glaze on the chicken legs is an interesting turn because char siu is most often pork, so having this on chicken is interesting on its own.
The classic pairing of Chinese five-spice powder and sweet glaze on barbecued meats doesn’t disappoint in its adaptation to chicken legs. These are sweet, sticky, spiced (but not too spicy), and supremely satisfying. They are almost too good to be eaten out of a cardboard quick service boat, they deserve to be on a plate as the star of an entree dinner. This might be the best food that we’ve had so far of the new late summer foods that have been released this week.
