REVIEW: Tour the New BoardWalk Deli & Try Delightful Breakfast Sandwiches and Pastries at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort

We visited Disney’s BoardWalk Resort early for the grand opening of the new BoardWalk Deli, which has replaced the bakery. We tried some of the new breakfast sandwiches and baked goods.

We arrived bright and early to catch the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Some elements from the former BoardWalk Bakery remain.

Some have been altered to swap “Bakery” for “Deli.”

And a few signs are completely different.

Interior

The interior has been painted a blush pink instead of deep red, and the menu boards have been replaced with screens. Compare to the photo below of the Bakery in its final days of operation.

Otherwise, the interior is the same.

Breakfast

Everything Bagel Sandwich – $8.99

Cage-free Egg, Sausage Patty, and Cheddar on an Everything Bagel served with choice of Side

BoardWalk Deli Breakfast everything bagel sandwich 4 scaled

We loved this. It’s your basic sausage breakfast sandwich, but done well. The portion size is very filling.

We wished the bread had been toasted a little bit longer, but it was buttery and complemented the rest of the sandwich well.

The egg was poached and had a nice little run whenever we cut into it. There was a good serving of cheese and the sausage patty had a little kick to it.

Again, this is just a basic sandwich, but it’s done while and we will get this again.

Ciabatta Breakfast Sandwich (Plant-based) – $7.49

Plant-based Eggs Florentine, “Cheese”, Tomato Jam, and Arugula served with choice of Side

BoardWalk Deli Breakfast plant based ciabatta sandwich 8 scaled

This is a fully plant based option. It’s a good sized sandwich and was filling. The “eggs” are cooked well and there’s plenty of filling.

The tomato jam adds a little sweetness and you get a nice kick but it’s not overpowering.

There’s a decent amount of arugula and spinach to add freshness and the plant-based cheese is really nice as well. The bread wasn’t toasted but it was easy to cut.

We loved this and would get it again

Bakery (available all day)

Mickey Cinnamon Roll – $6.79

BoardWalk Deli Breakfast mickey cinnamon roll 4 scaled

This is your basic Mickey cinnamon roll you can find at Starbucks locations.

This might be cute for kids to have something Mickey shaped, but personally we would say to go ahead and choose a different pastry. You can find this anywhere and there are better options available at the counter.

Almond Croissant – $4.29

BoardWalk Deli Breakfast almond croissant 2 scaled

The almond filling is very sweet and there is too much of it. The shaved almonds on top give it a nice crunch, and the portion size is generous.

BoardWalk Deli Breakfast almond croissant 1 scaled

The filling tastes slightly coconut-y and has the texture of a cake batter. It’s a little too sweet for us; we prefered the crumb cake over this.

NJ Crumb Cake – $3.99

BoardWalk Deli Breakfast NJ Crumb Cake 1 scaled

This is a huge portion of coffee cake. The crumb topping is 50% of the cake, which is really nice and buttery, dense, and tasted fresh.

BoardWalk Deli Breakfast NJ Crumb Cake 3 scaled

Even though there’s a lot of topping on here, we loved it with the cake. The cinnamon is prominent and adds a light sweetness that pairs well with the buttery cake.

Another one we loved and would get again. This is the perfect size to share.

NY Half Moon Cookie – $3.79

BoardWalk Deli Breakfast NY half moon cookie 5 scaled
BoardWalk Deli Breakfast NY half moon cookie 1 scaled

This has the texture and crumbley-ness of a muffin. It’s a little dry, but the ganache brings some moisture back.

BoardWalk Deli Breakfast NY half moon cookie 3 scaled

The icing is chocolate ganache, and the white icing is super sweet. It tastes like pillsbury icing out of the can.

BoardWalk Deli Breakfast NY half moon cookie 6 scaled

It’s heavy and overly sweet. We’d pick the crumb cake over this.

Cocktails

Social Hour Prizefighter – $11

Rye Whiskey, Peach, Lemon, and Fernet

Social Hour Sunkissed Fizz – $11

Vodka, Yuzu, Peach, Key Lime, and Jasmine

BoardWalk Deli Breakfast cocktails 2

The alcohol percentage on this is really high (over 11% ABV) and as soon as we popped the cans open, we could smell it. This is a little intense for breakfast and maybe even for lunch. The alcohol is incredibly prominent and it’s really the only flavor that we got from either drink. If you’re looking for a specialty cocktail, we’d recommend going to Abracadabar or BoardWalk Joe’s.

Overall

We enjoyed most of the breakfast options that we got. We loved the sandwiches and the crumb cake. Everything was a great portion size and filling. Even in the summer weather, it was nice just to sit out here and watch the sun come up and eat our breakfast. We recommend this as a stop for breakfast on your way to the park.

Stay tuned for our review of the lunch menu.
