Akoya Pearls reopened today, February 15, in the Japan Pavilion of EPCOT after a three-year closure. It has not operated since March 2020, when Walt Disney World Resort closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This experience can be found inside Mitsukoshi.
At this station, there are tanks of water with dozens of oysters at the bottom.
The tank is open, but it’s not a petting zoo — no touching allowed.
Guests get to pick out their oyster by pointing at it, and then Cast Members use tongs to lift it out.
The Cast Member will then open the oyster to reveal the natural pearl inside, which the guest gets to keep.
The base experience is $20 including tax. For this, the guest gets the loose pearl.
For additional prices, guests can get a gift box, sand jar, or necklace.
Necklaces start at $15.95 for a 16-inch sterling silver chain and go up to $24.50 for a 24-inch chain. A pendant for the pearl ranges from $21-$69. A gift box ranges from 95 cents to $4.95. Colored sand jars are $4.95.
Team Members were excited to be back!
