UPDATE: Final Figment Animatronic Finally Fixed on Journey Into Imagination with Figment at EPCOT

Just a couple weeks ago, we reported on the final Figment animatronic being broken on Journey into Imagination with Figment at EPCOT. We’re happy to report that our favorite purple dragon has been fixed once again as of today!

The Figment animatronic is finally fixed!

After being still for more than a month and a half, we visited Figment in his last scene right after the Smell Lab to find him moving along with the show again. Previously, the second animatronic of Figment within the ride was standing still, and not gesturing the groups of guests touring the Imagination Institute towards his wacky, upside-down open house as intended.

You can see him moving in the video above.

When the pavilion opened in 1983, the Imagination! Pavilion featured a ride called Journey into Imagination. Figment was introduced as the ride’s mischievous mascot, and he quickly became a fan favorite. The ride took guests on a whimsical journey through the creative process, with Figment appearing occasionally to add his playful antics.

Due to sponsorship issues with Kodak, in 1999, the ride was updated and renamed Journey into YOUR Imagination. This new version did not prominently feature Figment. Fans were disappointed, and the ride received negative reviews. In 2002, Disney responded to fan demand and brought back Figment in a new version of the ride called Journey into Imagination with Figment, which is the same version that is available to ride in EPCOT today.

Today, Figment can be found throughout the Imagination! Pavilion at EPCOT, and has recently become a star of popcorn buckets during the annual EPCOT International Festival of the Arts. He also makes frequent appearances on park merchandise as EPCOT’s de-facto mascot.

Guests will also be able meet him in person this summer!
