The attraction will be closing to make way for “new entertainment,” but details are not available at this time.

This is a developing story; stay tuned for more information.

“The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle” will also close after May 9, but only temporarily for show enhancements.

This infamous but beloved walkthrough attraction has guests exploring the Temple of Poseidon with Taylor, the archaeological assistant to Professor Baxter.

In the first room of the attraction, guests meet Taylor, who isn’t sure where Professor Baxter is but begins the tour anyway. Taylor explains that the first room was a ceremonial chamber of Poseidon until it was sealed up by his high priest Lord Darkenon, killing everyone inside as a sacrifice to the Dark One. Taylor uncovers a spooky inscription on the wall and then receives a message from Professor Baxter. Before Taylor can evacuate guests, a secret door opens, and the voice of Lord Darkenon beckons the group forward…

The attraction takes guests through various rooms of the temple, before encountering Poseidon and Darkenon themselves, at which point an epic battle ensues.

The original opening day version of the attraction had ties to Atlantis and saw Poseidon fighting Zeus. Guests were led by an old guide known as The Keeper. This version of Poseidon’s Fury didn’t last long, though, and most guests will remember Taylor and Darkenon.

Poseidon’s Fury temporarily closed in August 2020, unrelated to the COVID-19 pandemic. We watched as the attraction’s façade was refurbished, until it finally reopened in March 2022. Nothing about the story changed during the closure, but the effects looked like they were refurbished — the lasers were bright and crisp, and the images projected on the water were clear.

During the closure, the various Taylors and Professor Baxter appeared in The Lost Continent to talk to guests.

New Poseidon’s Fury merchandise was released earlier this year at Universal Orlando Resort.

Poseidon’s Fury is the last remaining attraction in The Lost Continent, except for the interactive Mystic Fountain. The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad closed in 2018. Flying Unicorn and Dueling Dragons, in the Merlinwood section of The Lost Continent, became Flight of the Hippogriff and Dragon Challenge when The Wizarding World of Harry Potter took over in 2010. Dragon Challenge eventually closed permanently and was replaced by Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure in 2019.

It’s long been rumored that The Lost Continent could become an extended part of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, or be rethemed to a different IP like Zelda.
