Sprinkles Cupcakes Permanently Closed at Downtown Disney District

We saw that as part of the larger reimagining of Downtown Disney, the Sprinkles Cupcakes bakery has closed its doors to guests.

The Sprinkles bakery has closed in Downtown Disney.

Sprinkles Cupcakes Closed at Downtown Disney District

Sprinkles, a popular cupcake bakery, permanently closed in Downtown Disney District on April 12. The closure was part of a larger reimagining of Downtown Disney District, which is set to include the opening of new dining and shopping options.

Sprinkles first opened in Downtown Disney District in 2012. The eatery was a favorite destination for both tourists and locals, and it was known for its signature cupcakes, made with high-quality ingredients and decorated with colorful sprinkles.

The bakery was founded in Beverly Hills, California, in 2005. The company has since expanded to over 30 locations in the United States and Mexico. The Downtown Disney District location was a well-loved spot for both tourists and locals. The bakery offered a variety of cupcakes, cookies, and other desserts.

The closure of Sprinkles in Downtown Disney District will disappoint many fans who enjoy a treat when visiting the shopping and dining district. However, the reimagining of Downtown Disney District is expected to bring new and exciting options to the area. Take a look at the concept art below.

Downtown Disney Reimagining

Disney Parks Experiences and Products President Josh D’Amaro announced the reimagining of Downtown Disney District at Destination D23 back in November 2021. The multi-year project aims to transform the outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment district into a vibrant, open-air neighborhood that “reflects the best Southern California has to offer.”

A new grassy area will provide a space for guests to relax, similar to what was recently implemented in the reimagining of Mickey’s Toontown. There will also be space for events that will be held in Downtown Disney District.

The improvements will also include a new pedestrian-friendly streetscape, a variety of new dining and shopping options, and enhanced entertainment experiences. The project is expected to be completed in phases over several years.

Some of the key changes that are planned for Downtown Disney District include:

  • Improved walkways
  • A variety of new dining and shopping options, including several new restaurants and shops
  • Enhanced entertainment experiences
  • Improved landscaping and public art
  • Increased accessibility for guests with disabilities

The Downtown Disney District project is part of an effort by Disneyland Resort to attract additional commerce and enhance guest experience. It will also make the area accessible to a wider range of visitors. The project is expected to create many new jobs and generate millions of dollars for the region.

While it is already a popular destination for both tourists and locals, the reimagining is expected to make it an even more vibrant place to visit.
