Universal Orlando Resort is now hiring the Illumination’s Minion Cafe opening team.

An opening date for Minion Cafe has not been announced, but it’s expected to open this year with Villain-Con Minion Blast.

There are two postings for the grand opening team on the Universal Orlando Resort jobs site: quick service front of house and quick service back of house. Part-time and full-time positions are available. Read the job descriptions below.

Quick Service Front of House

Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour

QUICK SERVICE ASSOCIATE (QSR): The Quick Service Associate (QSR) position is responsible for several aspects within the various Food & Beverage venues located across our theme parks and CityWalk. These include operating the cash register and POS system, performing basic cooking and food preparation, providing exemplary guest service by greeting guests and helping with internal and external crowd control, and assisting with cleaning duties that include mopping floors, emptying trash, and wiping down tables. This Team Member will also assist in restocking condiments, bussing tables and running food.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take and fill Food & Beverage orders requested by guests
  • Basic preparation and/or cooking of food for various Food & Beverage venues (i.e. operating fryers to handle fried food cooked on a timer)
  • Provide friendly and courteous assistance to guests while answering questions and directing guests within the restaurant.
  • Clean tables in the dining areas in an efficient and expedient manner. Maintain floors by sweeping and mopping. Empty garbage cans, stock and replenish condiment stands and straightening chairs.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

STOCKER: Work in a location where you will save the day and ensure that everything is show-ready for guests and Team Members by stocking our outdoor food carts, checking in food product and jumping in to assist your fellow Team Members as needed.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inform management of stock levels to ensure proper inventory and stock. Receive, verify, and count incoming shipments from warehouse or vendors.
  • Stock the location(s), optimizing usage of stock rooms and shelving space and keeping stockrooms clean and organized.
  • Process damaged product by removing from location(s) and filling out proper paperwork.
  • Partner with management to ensure optimum stock levels and maintains the appearance of the location.
  • Positively impact the guest experience through the execution of guest service standards.
  • Assist on sales floor when needed.

EDUCATION: High school degree or GED preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and or move between 20 and 50 pounds.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions (select positions).
  • Maintains a clean work environment with use of cleaning chemicals.
  • Handling cash in sales transactions (select positions).
  • Verifying age in the sales of alcohol (select positions).
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.

Quick Service Back of House

STEWARD: Responsible for washing, dishes, silver ware, equipment and cooking utensils. Performs general cleaning duties in accordance to standard. This is an entry level role into our Culinary Team.

New pay rate for Stewards: $15.00/hour

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Loads and empties dish machine
  • Washes pots, pans, cooking utensils, and equipment by hand
  • Assists kitchen staff as needed.
  • Removes waste, empties and cleans garbage receptacles, removes recyclable materials, and places in appropriate areas.
  • Cleans the kitchen by sweeping, mopping, washing kitchen walls, floors, and floor mats. Performs closing duties in accordance to standard.
  • Stocks all dishware and glassware as cleaned.
  • Follows MSDS standards, safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High school degree or GED preferred.

LINE COOK: Responsible for preparation and/or cooking of food for various food service units and the main kitchens located within our theme parks or CityWalk.

New pay rate for Line Cooks: $16.50/hour 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sets up station with materials and supplies and maintains availability.
  • Performs cooking duties and related production functions. Ensures high food quality level that meets Universal Orlando standard and performs daily spot checks of all portioning tools.
  • Provides daily documenting and recording of product spoilage.
    Follows established safety standards using safe food handling guidelines and maintains a clean work area.
  • Ensures compliance of the State of Florida’s HACCP program.
  • Assists in with various kitchen duties and supports the employee cafeteria duties as required.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High school degree or GED is preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Previous line production cook experience preferred.

SENIOR COOK: Responsible for the preparation and/or cooking of food within a specific Food Service Unit or the main kitchen located in our theme parks or CityWalk.

New starting rate for Senior Cooks: $19.00/hour

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Stocks materials and supplies in hot/cold and dry areas. Maintains all Cost of Goods control tools by performing quarterly updating of control cards, inventory packages, recipe books. Performs daily spot checks of all portioning tools. Provides daily documenting and recording of product spoilage.
  • Performs cooking duties and related production functions. Ensures high food quality level that meets Universal Orlando standards.
  • Maintains a clean work area and immediate surrounding area. Ensures compliance of the State of Florida’s HACCP program.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • High school degree or GED preferred.
  • Completion of Chef’s apprentice or equivalent preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • One to two years of high-volume experience as a Line Cook required.
  • Must have knowledge of cooking processes; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CHEF ASSISTANT: Responsible for the preparation and/or cooking of food within a specific Food Service Unit located in our theme parks or CityWalk.

New starting rate for Chef Assistant: $20.00/hour

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for ordering supplies in accordance to par levels and staffing projects. Receives inventory and ensures the availability of materials and supplies.
  • Ensures that all preparations are in accordance with established recipes, menu and portion specifications and in relation to business volumes. Responsible for food presentation, quality of products and waste prevention.
  • Maintains all cost of goods by performing quarterly updating of control cards, inventory packages, and portioning tools. Provides daily documenting and recording of product spoilage.
    Studies all evidence of waste and makes suggestions for improved efficiency. Ensures high food quality level that meets Universal Orlando standards. Ensures compliance of the State of Florida’s HACCP program.
  • Ensures established safety practices are followed.
  • Provides work direction of cooks and production workers within area of responsibility. Monitors production staff breaks.
  • Trains production workers in the use of kitchen equipment and food preparation.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • High school degree or GED preferred.
  • Completion of Chef’s apprentice or equivalent preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
