Details Revealed About Updates to Les Mystères du Nautilus and “it’s a small world” at Disneyland Paris

During the Disneyland Paris 30 Grand Finale Gala Presentation, it was announced that updates and a refurbishment are scheduled for Les Mystères du Nautilus in Discoveryland and “it’s a small world” in Disneyland Paris.

Les Mystères du Nautilus will be adding a few “special details”including knobs on the organ. They are using details from the original organ from the “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” film, which is currently at the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland in California.

The attraction will undergo a complete “subsea refresh”. During the refurbishment, numerous sets, accessories, lighting, and sound systems were updated.

Les Mystères du Nautilus is a walkthrough attraction at Disneyland Paris that takes guest through various rooms of Captain Nemo’s submarine. It’s an updated version of the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction at Disneyland in California in the 1950s. It is also based upon the film of the same name.

“it’s a small world” is currently undergoing refurbishment to pull out the old designs and include “modernized lightning ” and “about 300 dolls”. It will celebrate diversity and feature new faces.

‘it’s a small world’ was recently updated in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World to include a doll in a wheelchair. Disneyland Paris is said to be opening with the same update. The attraction is scheduled to make its “big comeback” on May 5, 2023.

Just as it is a learning experience in global citizenship, “it’s a small world” also allows children from all backgrounds to see themselves within the diverse representation of its audio-animatronic dolls. A new doll that uses a wheelchair now allows children or family members of guests with different mobilities to also feel included.

Disney Parks Blog gave us a little bit more information on the refurbishment:

“Special care has been taken to preserve the magic and ensure this attraction continues to shine as bright as it did on its debut in Paris over 30 years ago. Walt Disney Imagineering has worked closely with the Disneyland Paris central and maintenance workshops to refresh more than 300 dolls, animal figurines, animated accessories and more than a hundred toys! The iconic exterior, originally designed by Imagineering legends Rolly Crump and Mary Blair for Disneyland Resort in California, received a shiny, new coat of paint too. “
