Universal Studios Japan has announced that The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man will close permanently early next year.

Just one day shy of the attraction’s 20th anniversary, the closing date will be January 22, 2024.

The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man: The Ride opened on January 23, 2004 as the first major expansion to Universal Studios Japan after it opened in 2001. The ride is exactly the same as at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in Florida, although differences exist in the queue and load structure.

A replacement was not announced for the space, although with the official closure of nearby Terminator 2 3-D, a large parcel of real estate has now opened up at the park for expansion. Rumors for years have swirled of a permanent Pokémon presence in this area, but no information is official yet on future plans.

“The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man” Final Campaign

Starting July 4, visitors to Universal Studios Japan can experience the “The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man” Final Campaign, which will include a commemorative sticker for the ride’s farewell while supplies last. Guests can ask any Crew Member except in Minion Park, Super Nintendo World, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter for one of these special stickers.

As well, commemorative merchandise will be released as part of the finale.

For those wishing to have a bit more smooth goodbye, you can also purchase special types of Express Pass starting May 16, 2023, which range from the Universal Express 7 Plus 1 with Spider-Man as well as Hollywood Dream The Ride: BACKDROP, all the way to a single Express Pass for The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man which also includes a special merchandise item.
