Universal Orlando Resort announced that Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey will be temporarily closed on June 8. The ride will be closed for one day so they can perform routine maintenance.

The attraction Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey found at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Hogsmeade in Universal’s Islands of Adventure will be closed June 8, 2023, for routine maintenance.

Universal describes this attraction as follows:

Enter through the towering castle gates and make your way down the familiar passageways and corridors of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Then soar above the castle grounds as you join Harry Potter and his friends on a thrilling adventure. Groundbreaking, state-of-the-art technology (and a little magic) creates a one-of-a-kind ride.

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey Overview

In the ride’s story, Dumbledore has welcomed Muggles to Hogwarts to attend a lecture on the history of the school. The instruction is given by the ghost of notoriously loquacious Professor Binns. During the story in the queue, guests see Harry, Ron, and Hermione suggest instead to meet them in the Room of Requirement so they can sneak you down to the Quidditch pitch. They are sure it will be more entertaining than the planned lecture.

During the course of the line, guests enter between two tall stone pillars topped with winged boars. Then they make their way into the Hogwarts castle and through its winding halls. Guests will witness multiple relics from the stories, including the Mirror of Erised. In addition, visitors will see in the greenhouses that Professor Sprout’s mandrakes are growing, and Professor Dumbledore’s office has not only the magical Pensieve and the Sword of Gryffindor, but also the headmaster himself, who appears to greet you.

After seeing Dumbledore, as visitors wind through the line they will see the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, where Harry, Ron, and Hermione appear from under the invisibility cloak and give you details on their sneaky plans. Finally, after going behind the portrait of the Fat Lady and into the Gryffindor common room, guests will pass the famed Sorting Hat on their way to the Room of Requirement.

Shortly after, guests board the ride and are taken through a myriad of scenes based on the world of Harry Potter. It is one of the most popular attractions at Universal’s Island of Adventure.
