Alice in Wonderland Set to Reopen Again in Late July at Disneyland

After two closures a month apart, Alice in Wonderland will reopen to guests yet again in late July at Disneyland.

Following its second refurbishment, Alice in Wonderland will reopen to Disneyland guests on July 21. The madcap adventure through the classic 1951 Disney animated film is currently closed through June 16, with walls up around the attraction.

The second refurbishment on the attraction begins July 5, at the same time as the Disneyland Monorail and Soarin’ Around the World. Both still are without end dates for their refurbishments.

Work is underway on all three attractions in the eastern dark ride show building — Peter Pan’s Flight, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, and of course Alice in Wonderland — with Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride also reopening June 16 without a second refurbishment. Peter Pan’s Flight will reopen June 30.

Let us know whether this affects your trip to Disneyland in the comments below!

Alice in Wonderland’s First Refurbishment

Walls have gone up around the large eastern show building of Fantasyland at Disneyland. This entire area is home to three classic dark ride attractions – Peter Pan’s Flight, Alice in Wonderland, and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. All three attractions have been part of Disneyland since the 1950s, and are housed in the same show building.

Given that Peter Pan’s Flight will be closed through June 29, longer than the other two, there’s a bit more in place. The attraction has its own separate signage as well as scaffolds up out front.

We could already see workers walking around the scaffolding, presumably to touch up the exterior while work goes on inside as well. This of course isn’t unique to this area of Fantasyland, there’s currently work underway on the Red Rose Taverne exterior just across the way as well.

Walls are not currently up around nearby Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride despite it also being closed. Cast Members were in place with a pin trading board and some games.

Over at Alice in Wonderland, it’s the same story. Although part of that queue remains exposed, but Cast Members stand guard outside to give the bad news.

The attraction’s marquee is outside the walls.

Guests can also still spot Cheshire Cat in the rockwork to the side.

Alice in Wonderland and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride will be closed through June 16, so guests only have to wait about ten days to experience these classics again. But the ride will re-close on July 5 for an as-of-yet undetermined length of time. The Disneyland Monorail will also close on this day, as well as Soarin’ Around the World across the esplanade at Disney California Adventure.

Meanwhile, the transformation of Splash Mountain into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has begun over in Critter Country.
