A massive behind-the-scenes update was just unleashed, regarding some of the music and new experiences coming to the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction replacing Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom and Disneyland.
Walt Disney Imagineering is teaming up with award-winning artists PJ Morton and Terence Blanchard on a soundtrack for both the ride itself and the queue guests will wait in.
PJ Morton is writing, arranging and producing an original song for the attraction. He is performing on and producing the sessions in New Orleans of all-new arrangements, along with favorites from “The Princess and the Frog.” The intent is to provide an ambience that pays homage to the rich culture of jazz and countless musicians of several genres who’ve called New Orleans home.
Terence Blanchard is arranging the music for the attraction’s queue. The music will combine a medley of instrumental ingredients “to cook up something worth savoring.”
New audio-animatronics are also coming to this attraction, the first announcement indicating specifics about original characters for the new thrill ride thus far.
Some of our brand-new Audio-Animatronics figures will bring the invigorating sounds of New Orleans to life. Take this new rendering of Prince Naveen’s brother, Ralphie, for example. It’s a scene you commonly see in New Orleans: the joie de vivre influencing his every movement as he jams to the beat of his songful soul. Or this band of friendly critters playing joyful Zydeco-style music.
The original Splash Mountain closed permanently at Disneyland on May 31, while the version at Magic Kingdom concluded earlier this year, in January.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Coming in 2024
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure takes place after the events of “The Princess and the Frog.” The attraction will follow Tiana venturing into the bayou to find animal friends. She’ll be hosting a party for the people of New Orleans, but missing a special ingredient. Some of the original cast will be providing their voices to the attraction, including Anika Noni Rose (Tiana), Bruno Campos (Naveen), Michael Leon Wooley (Louis), and Jennifer Lewis (Mama Odie).
