VIDEO: Na’vi River Journey Shaman Audio-Animatronic Malfunctions at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The Shaman of Songs audio-animatronic on Na’vi River Journey in Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been caught napping.

TikTok user @destinationdvc shared a video (below) of the Shaman of Songs unmoving with her head tilted back.

The user wrote, “The shaman at rope drop before she had her coffee.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the Shaman of Songs malfunction since the ride opened in 2017. The impressive audio-animatronic was Disney’s most advanced when she was unveiled, and the only physical representation of the Na’vi in Pandora – The World of “Avatar.”

In January 2021, the Shaman of Songs was seen slumped over. Later that year, in August 2021, a guest caught the moment the Shaman of Songs collapsed into slumber on video.

At various times, the Shaman of Songs has switched to “B-mode,” which is just a screen showing her moving and singing instead of the audio-animatronic.

To see how the Shaman of Songs is supposed to move, watch our full ride POV below.

This immersive land is themed after the alien world of Pandora and is a collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and the creators of the Avatar film franchise, Director James Cameron, and Lightstorm Entertainment. It features themed rockwork, ambient sound, food and beverages, and multiple attractions. The attractions are Na’vi River Journey and Avatar Flight of Passage.

Details on the upcoming Avatar land and experience in Disneyland remain a secret, but executives promise it to be as immersive as what is currently found at Walt Disney World Resort. “If you’ve had a chance to experience Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, you have a pretty good idea of what Imagineers are capable of,” said Disney CEO Bob Iger when announcing the expansion on February 8.

The new land is expected to be a major draw for guests at Disneyland Resort, offering a completely immersive experience that transports visitors to a new world. It promises to be a unique addition to the park, providing an exciting new adventure for Disney fans and “Avatar” enthusiasts.
