After making occasional appearances on the stage in Tomorrowland, Stitch can now be spotted roaming around Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom. Let’s visit and see what Experiment 626 is up to now that he’s made his “great escape.”
We were pleasantly surprised to find Stitch roaming around and interacting with guests of all ages this morning.
We saw him interacting with young guests just in front of his former location, the stage in Tomorrowland.
Where to now, Stitch? Just as we would expect, Stitch was making the most of his freedom, creating all sorts of mischief around the area. If you’re hoping to spot him, it’s important to note that he is constantly on the go and does not stop for photos. Consider having your camera on sport mode for this one.
Stitch took a break from causing trouble and even stopped by one of the merchandise locations, perhaps to pick out the perfect souvenir for Lilo. How thoughtful! Of course, Stitch is accompanied by a Character Attendant, a.k.a the Cast Member to his left in the blue top.
Just as we would on a hot Central Florida day, Stitch began to play with the Kugel Fountain Ball found in Tomorrowland. As you may remember, this interactive element remained out of order for nearly one year after Magic Kingdom’s post-COVID reopening. Eventually, it became operational once again in late June 2021.
Back in 2017, Disney debuted the Alien Encounter Character Greeting at the former location of Stitch’s Great Escape, a now-closed Tomorrowland attraction that debuted in 2004 (replacing ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter). The Alien Encounter Character Greeting remained open until the COVID-19 shutdown.
In July 2020, Disney confirmed the official closure of Stitch’s Great Escape at Magic Kingdom. As indicated by the removal of signage and with character meet-and-greets temporarily suspended due to health and safety regulations, the location met its long-awaited final closure in August 2020.
