The glimmering rocks greeting guests at the entryway to Tomorrowland have been repainted in Magic Kingdom. The boulders had been peeling and fading, with traces of the original red hue showing.

This is not a refresh that happens very often; in fact, the last time they were repainted was 2016. The peeling issues began very soon after the repainting that year.

The rocks are simply decorative elements, but are an iconic part of Tomorrowland décor.

The last time the rocks were painted was back in September 2016. Before this, they were actually an entirely different color; take a look at a reference photo below.

The rocks used to be a more natural color before taking on a glimmering blue hue.

The base coat paint was more of a bronze color with tan highlights. These are the rocks on either side of the bridge as you enter Tomorrowland from the central park hub.

Also new in Tomorrowland is headlining attraction TRON Lightcycle / Run and a refurbishment of the Tomorrowland Light & Power Co., renamed to Tomorrowland Launch Depot and filled with TRON merchandise.

TRON Lightcycle / Run is a high-speed, thrilling coaster ride. It is also the first attraction at Walt Disney World to require the use of lockers for personal belongings.

Guests climb aboard their very own Lightcycle and “take off on a high-speed adventure, racing against the Grid’s most menacing Programs.” Riders will “surge past fierce opponents” and attempt to cross through eight Energy Gates to win a victory for their team. All racers are on Team Blue.
