Death Eaters are now appearing in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood through July 30, 2023, in conjunction with Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle.
Death Eaters in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
You’ll see Death Eaters wandering around The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but there are a few specific set pieces they stop at and interact with.
Outside Honeydukes and the Three Broomsticks is a platform with barrels and crates where they appear.
The Death Eaters don’t really perform a show, but they cast spells and interact with guests.
Special green lighting illuminates them.
The Death Eaters walk through crowds, searching for new recruits.
Death Eaters are the servants of Lord Voldemort, the main antagonist in the “Harry Potter” series. They are known for terrorizing, torturing, and killing Muggles (non-magical people).
Watch our video of the Death Eaters below.
Last fall, Death Eaters were featured in their own scare zone throughout The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood for Halloween Horror Nights 2022. They wore metallic masks and wandered around in search of more Voldemort loyalists. You can watch our full experience of the Death Eaters scare zone here, if you dare.
Death Eaters have previously appeared at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade in Universal Orlando Resort, too. It’s rumored they may come to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley for the first time this fall.
Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle
In April 2023, the Dark Arts nighttime show at Hogwarts Castle returned to Universal Studios Hollywood after a four-year hiatus for select nights throughout the spring and summer. This experience is included with regular park admission and runs from dusk to park close through August 13.
You can read the description of Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle from the Universal Studios Hollywood website below:
Find a moment of hope hidden in the darkness when you see Dark Arts at Hogwarts™ Castle light up the sky with music and live special effects. As darkness falls at Hogwarts™ castle, Dementors™, Death Eaters™ and other unspeakable creatures cloak the stone walls with sinister images from the darker side of magic. Experience the fire-engulfed army of Inferi, the soul-draining breath of Dementors™, and the haunting image of Lord Voldemort™ as you stare in awe at the castle’s takeover. This powerful spectacle is accompanied by an atmospheric musical score created by John Williams.
Guests can catch a showing of Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle on select nights through August 13 in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
The two Wizarding Worlds at Universal Orlando Resort are Hogsmeade in Universal’s Islands of Adventure and Diagon Alley in Universal Studios Florida. A third Wizarding World inspired by Place Cachée, as seen in “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,” is rumored for Epic Universe. Check out an Epic Universe construction update featuring a look at Place Cachée.
Epic Universe has contracted some firms that previously worked on The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, the main attraction of Hogsmeade at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, will temporarily close for refurbishment in June.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade also exists with slight variations at Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Studios Japan, and Universal Studios Beijing. All versions of Hogsmeade include Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and family coaster Flight of the Hippogriff, which was originally a re-skin of The Lost Continent’s Flying Unicorn. The Ollivanders Experience is also available in all versions of Hogsmeade.
In Universal’s Islands of Adventure, guests can ride Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, a large roller-coaster that replaced Dragon Challenge, which was in turn a re-skin of Dueling Dragons.
New Magical Creatures experiences, including a Hippogriff encounter, debuted this year at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios Japan. The Japanese version of the land also includes the Black Lake.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley, unique to Universal Studios Florida, is headlined by Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts. It also features live performances of The Tales of Beedle the Bard and Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees.
Guests can dine at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade or The Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley. Both serve traditional British dishes like fish and chips.
