New ‘Encanto’ Mirabel Meet and Greet at Magic Kingdom Added to Walt Disney World Website

An attraction page for the new “Encanto”-themed Mirabel meet and greet coming to Magic Kingdom has been added to the official Walt Disney World website. The new page includes the meet and greet’s previously announced opening date — September 15 — and offers a first glimpse into the location’s potential theming.

Walt Disney World listed the following information as part of the meet and greet’s details:

A Special Greeting — Step into the courtyard outside of Casa Madrigal. Mirabel is eager to make new friends and knows that everyone is important and needed just as they are.

About Mirabel Loving and genuine, Mirabel will do anything for her family. She’s proud to be part of the amazing Madrigals and knows each one is special in their own way—including her.

The new Mirbel meet and greet is at Fairytale Garden in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom. It replaces a “Brave”-themed meet and greet in which guests could meet Merida; that meet and greet quietly moved to Liberty Square in early July.

While the art included on the new page appears to be lifted from a 2021 Mirabel meet and greet at Disney California Adventure, we can expect the Magic Kingdom offering to have similar theming given Disney’s description. The area previously themed to medieval Scotland will give way to a more vibrant and engaging aura as it’s transformed into the Casa Madrigal courtyard.

At the Disney California Adventure meet and greet, Mirabel stood in front of the bright blue doors to Casa Madrigal — referred to as “Casita” in the 2021 film. Casita was decorated with colorful paintings and bright pink flowers, presumably planted by Isabela Madrigal.

“Encanto” at Walt Disney World

After having an initially modest box office showing following its November 2021 release, “Encanto” became a smash hit for Disney after debuting on the Disney+ streaming service during that year’s holiday season. The characters from the film have made occasional appearances at Walt Disney World since its release; Mirabel has appeared in the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalcade at Magic Kingdom since June of 2022, and Mirabel, Isabella, Luisa, and Antonio appeared in topiary form at the 2023 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival. Bruno will be joining his niece in the Disney Adventure Friends Cavalade starting on September 15, the same day that the Mirabel meet and greet will commence at Fairytale Garden.

An “Encanto” bus wrap debuted at Walt Disney World in late 2022, and it was recently announced that some of the gondolas on the Disney Skyliner will soon adopt “Encanto” theming. The movie’s presence could increase even further in coming years — during D23 Expco in 2022, Disney presented “blue sky” ideas for a potential “Encanto”-themed land behind Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom. Disney stressed that the concepts were simply ideas at the time and that no plans were final. No additional information has been released since the event.
