The Hatbox Ghost Pandora charm is now available at Disneyland Park. The park-exclusive charm is only available at Magic Kingdom and Disneyland.
The famous Hatbox Ghost was part of The Haunted Mansion in Disneyland on opening day, but the effect of his disappearing and reappearing head didn’t quite work, so he only lasted a few weeks. The Hatbox Ghost returned to Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion in 2015 and Disney is adding him to the Magic Kingdom version right now.
Hatbox Ghost Pandora Charm – $75
The new Pandora charm is shaped like the ghost’s iconic hatbox, with a silver handle on the top. “The Haunted Mansion” is debossed in black on one side of the box.
The ghost’s skull-like face is on the other side of the charm, which is mostly ghostly blue.
It’s a slider charm with a hole down the center.
The Madame Leota charm also on display was first released in 2019 for the ride’s 50th anniversary. These are available at La Mascarade d’Orleans in New Orleans Square.
Disneyland also recently released a Hatbox Ghost sipper. Other new “Haunted Mansion” merchandise includes a travel tech pouch, phone case, and Loungefly drawstring backpack.
An entire Haunted Mansion meal is currently available at Café Orleans.
The Haunted Mansion
The original Haunted Mansion opened in 1969 as part of the New Orleans Square expansion in Disneyland. Two years later, it was an opening day attraction in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom. It was also an opening day attraction at Tokyo Disneyland in 1983.
Phantom Manor is a version of the Haunted Mansion with its own original backstory at Disneyland Paris.
In Hong Kong Disneyland, guests can enjoy Mystic Manor. This ride is inspired by Haunted Mansion but is ultimately a completely different attraction that avoids references to the afterlife out of respect to Chinese traditions.
New ‘Haunted Mansion’ Movie
July 28 marked the release of the new “Haunted Mansion” film directed by Justin Simien. It stars LaKeith Stanfield as Ben, an astrophysicist-turned-paranormal expert who assists Gabbie (Rosario Dawson) after she and her son Travis (Chase Dillon) discover their new house is haunted. Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, Danny DeVito, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jared Leto also star. The screenplay is by Katie Dippold and it’s produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich.
The film had a less-than-successful opening weekend but EVP of Disney’s theatrical distribution, Tony Chambers, is hopeful it will catch up in the next few weeks.
