Walt Disney World Resort has shared a new operational update for Hurricane Idalia, and is offering a discount for Florida residents evacuating the storm and first responders.

Walt Disney World Hurricane Idalia Update

The update was shared to Walt Disney World’s official weather updates page. These updates include an extension of change and cancellation fees being waived, storm recovery, and discounts available to Florida residents and first responders dealing with the impact of the storm.

Evacuees & First Responders Support

Florida residents who are evacuating the storm and first responders who are assisting in storm-related recovery efforts can get 50% off a Disney Resort hotel stay on the nights of August 29-31, 2023.

Evacuees are asked to call (407) W-DISNEY for details, and first responders can call (407) 828-3200 and select Option 3 when asked. This discount applies to new bookings only, and is based on availability.

Travel Flexibility

Change and cancellation fees imposed by Disney will be waived for check-in dates from August 28 – September 5, 2023. Guests currently staying at a Disney Resort hotel whose travel plans have been impacted by the hurricane can receive a discounted rate to extend their stay through the evening of August 31 by visiting their hotel’s front desk.

Storm Recovery

Walt Disney World is prepared to serve as a staging area for storm-related recovery efforts for the state of Florida.
