New Main Street U.S.A. Crossbody Bag Debuts at Magic Kingdom

A new crossbody bag that evokes the familiar feeling of small-town America that Disney Imagineers attempted to emulate when designing Main Street U.S.A. has debuted at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort. We found the new bag at Uptown Jewelers, which is located near the park entrance toward the front of Main Street U.S.A.

Main Street U.S.A. Bag – $50.00

Main Street USA Crossbody Bag 1

The circular bag is made of a beige woven material and features a seamless bright blue pinstripe pattern. The design appears to be influenced by popular turn-of-the-(20th)-century American aesthetics and shares a lot of similarities with the costumes worn by the Dapper Dans, a traditional barbershop quartet that frequently performs on Main Street U.S.A. The multi-colored outfits take influence from the same period of American history and feature the pinstripe design seen on this bag; one of the performers even wears the same shade of blue.

That shade of blue is seen again on a trim that surrounds the bag. At the top of the bag’s facade is a bright blue bow, perhaps another nod to the Dapper Dan costumes.

A gold-colored emblem that reads “Main Street U.S.A.” sits at the center of the bow. It’s surrounded by small silver circles that emulate the lights that line many of the building facades along the Magic Kingdom entryway.

The side of the bag is solid blue, and that color is replicated on the long crossbody strap. The teeth of the zipper and its corresponding pull are a shiny gold hue.

The back of the bag features no iconography or patterns. Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can purchase this bag for a discounted price of $42.

WDW MK Halloween Main Street USA 2

Though Fort Collins, CO and Walt Disney’s hometown of Marceline, MO are often accurately cited as prominent influences, Main Street U.S.A. is more broadly meant to represent a general small town that one could have found anywhere across the United States in the early 1900s (hence the broad name of “Main Street U.S.A.”). Versions of Main Street U.S.A. serve as the entryway of every Disney ‘castle park’ across the globe, and though there are differences from park to park, all are generally the same in concept (World Bazaar in Tokyo Disneyland and Mickey Avenue in Shanghai Disneyland are perhaps the two furthest outliers, but they feature architecture aesthetically consistent with that of other Main Street U.S.A’s).

Restaurants and retail options appear along every version of Main Street U.S.A. in addition to entertainment options (such as the aforementioned Dapper Dans at Disneyland and Magic Kingdom) that vary between parks. The streets receive festive makeovers during holiday seasons, with Halloween decorations recently appearing on Main Street U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom and in World Bazaar at Tokyo Disneyland.
