A new dessert that doubles as a festive take on a Disney icon is now available at Disney Springs, as Marketplace Snacks is serving up a Minnie Witch Waffle Sundae for the Halloween season.
Marketplace Snacks is located on the Marketplace side of Disney Springs.
Minnie Witch Waffle Sundae – $8.99 (Available Sept. 1 – Oct. 31)
Bubble Waffle filled with Chocolate Soft-Serve, Orange Sauce, Chocolate Cream Cookies, Candy Corn, and Chocolate Sticks
The waffle itself is quite cute and festive, and the Mickey-shaped bubbles in the actual waffle are a very nice touch. The unique appearance aside, the waffle is nothing special, tasting like a standard Walt Disney World Resort waffle.
There are a ton of elements to this dessert, but individually, they’re all standard, resulting in an overall treat that’s an amalgamation of mediocrity. The sprinkles and candy corn contribute to the dish’s Instagram-friendly aesthetic but do little in terms of flavor. The ‘chocolate cream cookies’ that act as Minnie’s ears are standard, and Minnie’s witch hat, while cute, is just made of frosting.
The sticks are standard dark chocolate, and the chocolate soft serve matches the rest of the dish in its inability to be exceptional. The orange sauce is a nice touch and does add a bit of uniqueness to the dessert, though there needs to be significantly more of it. It provides a nice initial flavor contrast, but once the ice cream starts melting (which is almost immediately) and the flavors amalgamate, the orange sauce is quickly overpowered by general sweetness.
The Minnie Witch Waffle Sundae is definitely creative in concept and is generally quite cute, but it’s ultimately the sum of its parts. No single ingredient in this dish is noteworthy, and thus, the overall treat is underwhelming. We don’t think you have to rush out to try it.
The Minnie Witch Waffle Sundae is just one of several new Halloween treats at Disney Springs; other new options include the Haunted Mansion Cone, DOLE Whip Sampler, and Apple Cider Slush.
