BREAKING: Hera Syndulla & Chopper to Appear at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland

New Republic royalty will soon be debuting at Black Spire Outpost, as famed Rebel and New Republic pilot General Hera Syndulla will appear as a meet-and-greet character at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland for a limited time starting on September 8. She will be joined by Chopper, her astromech droid who is as sassy as he is charming. Their debut coincides with the ongoing release of the “Ahsoka” Disney+ series.

Star Wars announced the news on its official X account Friday morning. Disney Parks also shared a promotional video on its Instagram.

Hera Galaxys Edge 1

The pilot of the Ghost will don hear iconic jacket equipped with the Starbird on the right sleeve. Though quite similar in appearance to the Rebel Alliance logo, the Starbird is actually the graffiti sign left by Sabine Wren, who was part of Hera’s crew on “Star Wars Rebels,” an animated series that ran on Disney XD from 2014–2018. In Star Wars canon, the Starbird was modified and made the official symbol of the Rebel Alliance and later the New Republic.

Hera also wears her patented orange pants and headband with goggles. Her Twi’lek lekku are also present.

Hera Chopper Galaxys Edge

Hera will appear alongside Chopper, her companion droid whom she rescued during the Clone Wars. Chopper is one of the more rambunctious droids in the Star Wars galaxy, and his depiction at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is near-identical to his portrayal as seen in “Star Wars Rebels” and “Ahsoka.”

Hera and Chopper will only be appearing at the Disneyland version of Galaxy’s Edge as of now, joining Ahsoka Tano, who made her debut in late August. The version of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has not yet broken from the franchise’s canon timeline due to the Galactic Starcruiser, and thus, it does not make narrative sense for characters like Hera, Chopper, and Ahsoka to appear at the point of time in which that version of the land exists. The Galactic Starcruiser is closing permanently later this month.

Hera Syndulla and Chopper

Hera

Hera Syndulla and Chopper debuted in “Star Wars Rebels,” where they were voiced by Vanessa Marshall and series creator Dave Filoni, respectively. The two were major protagonists throughout the show’s duration and also play major roles in “Ahsoka,” a series currently airing on Disney+.

“Ahsoka” follows Ahsoka Tano (portrayed by Rosario Dawson) as she enlists the aid of Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) to find Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi), a Jedi who is trapped in an uncharted location. Potentially trapped alongside Ezra is Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen), a former Imperial official who, too, has seekers, and they aim to see the now-fallen Empire return to glory. “Ahsoka” premiered on August 22, and its finale will launch on October 3.
