Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom has seen quite a bit of progress over the past month or so. The Br’er Rabbit weathervane was finally removed, fresh rockwork was painted, and now, more progress is happening in the attraction’s queue.

Boards that were previously painted yellow appear to have been stripped back to their natural shade.

During our visit today, October 6, 2023, crews were actively working in the queue area. The barn was originally painted this shade back in July.

A new concrete barrier on the left has been revealed from its previous wood forms. These could potentially be the future home of flower beds.

A grid of metal pipes is being laid out in the queue, likely preparing for pavement to be poured.

Here, you can see crews working on something by the leftmost concrete barrier. Orange spray paint on the far left could notate where the metal grid will end.

Green pipes are staged behind the left concrete barrier, with others sticking up out of the ground among the gridded pipes. A flower bed behind this group of three crew members has been reduced to dirt.

Not much visible change on this side, though this pathway in the middle of the frame has been roped off with red tape.

Here you can see a crew member working at something along the bottom of the left concrete barrier.

Bricks have been laid out along the edge of the concrete corm on the right, likely to prepare for installation. The left barrier will presumably get brick to match. It also appears that more concrete has been poured on the far right.

A crane has appeared at the top of the barn. More scaffolding has also been added around the barn’s perimeter, as well as the wooden structure to its left. It also looks like yellow sheathing or insulation has been added to a wall to the left of the barn.

Over near the Frontierland Railroad Station exit, various piles of rocks have been staged in one corner of the construction area.

Some of them have been lined up to form some kind of wall or barrier.

New wooden supports to replace the former exit stairs have gone vertical.

It’s only a matter of time before the stairs really start to take shape. You can also see more of the rock barriers being laid out to the left of the stairs.

A new concrete wall has gone up around the previously present semicircle here. During our visit, crews were at work laying brick around the original semicircle.

The “Princess and the Frog”-inspired retheme of Splash Mountain was first announced in 2020, and the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure name was revealed in 2022.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure picks up after the events of “The Princess and the Frog.” In 1927, Tiana founded the Tiana’s Foods co-ops, which is located in a salt mine, where cultivators grow crops along the waters. During Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Tiana and alligator Louis venture into the bayou to find animal friends. They’re preparing a special Mardi Gras celebration for the people of New Orleans.

The scene depicted in the above concept art is “the thrilling moment you first drop into the bayou and encounter some friends both new and familiar.” Louis and a band of animals will be playing zydeco music, a blend of rhythm and blues that was created in Louisiana. The band of animal friends includes an otter, a rabbit, a raccoon, a beaver, and a turtle playing instruments made from natural bayou elements.

This ride will feature 17 new characters, including Prince Naveen’s younger brother, Ralphie. The Splash Mountain track will remain, but the attraction will get new set dressing and a vast range of new audio-animatronics. At Destination D23, Disney shared a look at a Louis animatronic.

There will be multiple Tiana audio-animatronics, and she will sport a new adventuring outfit. In June, Disney shared video of a live performer wearing the outfit, suggesting Tiana will appear in her adventuring gear off the attraction, too.

The queue and attraction music is being arranged by award-winning artists PJ Morton and Terence Blanchard, who will mix classic songs from the movie with New Orleans classics and original compositions. The scent of beignets is also set to be pumped throughout the queue.

Some of the original cast will be providing their voices to the attraction, including Anika Noni Rose (Tiana), Bruno Campos (Naveen), Michael Leon Wooley (Louis), and Jennifer Lewis (Mama Odie).

Tiana’s Palace at Disneyland recently opened and Tiana debuted another new outfit. Read our review of Tiana’s Palace.
