While Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls is closed for refurbishment, the rest of Toon Lagoon at Universal’s Islands of Adventure is being refreshed, too.
Toon Lagoon Refurbishment
Outside the Toon Extra Store, the “Tumbleweeds” waving cactus figure has been removed. A box covered in green scrim is over the spot where the figure usually sits.
The above photo from a 2022 construction update shows the figure on the left. It features three characters who have been chased up the cactus by a skunk (not pictured). It has likely been removed for a standard refurbishment
Nearly half of the courtyard featuring the Popeye statue is surrounded by construction walls.
The walls encircle the popcorn stand.
Guests can walk between the construction walls and Blondie’s to reach the bridge to Jurassic Park.
The Gasoline Alley gift shop is open behind the walls.
Black tarps connect the construction walls over planters.
At the end of the nearby walkway and along the bridge, construction walls block the view of Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls.
Ripsaw Falls is slated to be closed from October 2 through November 17, 2023 — just over a monthlong closure.
It’s not uncommon for water rides to be closed in the fall and winter for refurbishment while the weather is cooler and guests are less inclined to ride.
A similar monthlong closure is planned for the nearby Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges in February 2024.
Lastly, a wall has been removed from next to the Aesop and Son display.
