Walt Disney World No Longer Offering Pre-Arrival MagicBands for International Guests

A new restriction has been put in place that prevents international guests traveling to Walt Disney World Resort and staying on property from purchasing MagicBands at a pre-arrival price ahead of their stay.

New MagicBand Pre-Arrival Restriction for International Guests

International MagicBand Restriction 1

A WDWNT reader wrote to us explaining that despite multiple attempts, they were not able to purchase MagicBands ahead of their Walt Disney World vacation, due to residing in Canada.

Here is what the reader wrote about their experience:

We have repeatedly gotten a blank screen when clicking on the MagicBand tab in [the] My Disney Experience app and on the website.

Our first try in contacting Disney about this problem, they responded with it being a technical issue and IT was looking into it. After another week or so went by with the same problem and result, we tried typing the web address manually in, rather than clicking on their link. Upon doing so, we were able to get on the [MagicBand purchase] page, however, where you would usually click to select a band for the members in your party was now a notice to contact Guest Services.

Upon online chatting with them once again, they confirmed that they will no longer be offering this service to international customers.

In an image shared with us by the reader, the Walt Disney World website states that they “will not be able to proceed” with their MagicBand purchase “due to [their] region.”

International MagicBand Restriction 2

The reader also said that other members of their party were able to purchase their MagicBands at the pre-arrival rate three weeks ago, with a Guest Services representative confirming that the restriction is “fairly new.” The representative also said that international guests “are welcome to purchase a MagicBand when they arrive at their resort hotel, via the resort gift shop, at Disney Springs, or at retail locations inside each theme park.”

What do you think of this new restriction? Are you an international guests who has had a similar experience when attempting to purchase MagicBands at the pre-arrival price? Share your experiences with us in the comments.
