Disney Jollywood Nights, a new separately-ticked holiday event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, commenced on November 10, bringing with it a number of exclusive entertainment options in addition to several party-specific food and beverage items. Epic Eats, a quick-service location in the Echo Lake area of the park that’s known for its funnel cakes, has gotten in on the holiday spirit for Disney Jollywood Nights, as the kiosk is offering a Spicy Korean Chicken Funnel Cake, Brisket Reuben Funnel Cake, and S’mores Funnel Cake for the event.

This was our favorite of the party-exclusive menu items at Epic Eats, but if the word “spicy” is what caught your attention, you may want to look elsewhere. The heat is subtle, with the sauce and vegetables adding layers of flavor instead of spice.

Speaking of flavor, there’s a ton of it in this dish. The chicken is well-seasoned and crunchy, providing a ton of flavor while not tipping the Scoville scale. The pickled vegetables provide a different flavor profile that effectively complements the protein. The vegetables and chicken pair decently well with the funnel cake, but the meat is the real star of the show.

While the Spicy Korean Chicken Funnel Cake was our favorite of the three Epic Eats offerings, we’re not complaining about the Brisket Reuben Funnel Cake. It’s a unique concept that surprisingly works quite well; the brisket and slaw complement each other, and both taste even better when combined with the flaky funnel cake.

The brisket, though nothing earth-shattering, was competently prepared. We’ve had more flavorful brisket at Walt Disney World, but this meat was tasty, especially when paired with the slaw, dressing, and funnel cake. While this dish could have been a home run with a more flavorful brisket, we still think it’s a fun item to share with your friends and family.

S’mores Funnel Cake – $5.29

Our biggest issue with the S’mores Funnel Cake is the marshmallow-to-chocolate ratio. It skews too heavily toward the marshmallow, and whatever chocolate there is overpowered by the giant marshmallow and marshmallow-centric sauce.

You may love this treat if marshmallow-heavy desserts are up your alley. The flavors pair well enough with the funnel cake, and the cereal topping was fresh and crunchy (a welcomed surprise). That said, we think there are better Disney Jollywood Nights-exclusive dessert options, namely the Gertie Christmas cookie that’s available at the nearby Dinosaur Gertie’s Ice Cream of Extinction.

Disney Jollywood Nights runs on select nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios from November 11 through December 20.
