The culinary team at Disney’s Beach Club Resort is putting together the resort’s 2023 gingerbread carousel, which is returning for the 22nd year. This year, it is inspired by “DuckTales” — but specifically the DuckTales World Showcase Adventure at EPCOT.
2023 DuckTales Gingerbread Carousel
The gingerbread carousel actually spins and features four horses.
Various country flags are on the edge of the carousel roof, alternating with images of “Ducktales” characters.
The featured characters include Donald, Huey, Dewey, Louie, Scrooge, and Mrs. Beakley.
Each is pictured in front of a different country flag and holding items from the World Showcase game.
On top of the carousel is the same Spaceship Earth figure guests can purchase, with the “DuckTales” logo attached to the top with snowy frosting.
There are dollops of frosting all over the roof.
Cast Members told us they were hoping to finish the carousel by 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday so it could open soon.
One carousel horse is inspired by Scotland, wearing a green kilt-inspired saddle with golf accessories.
Orange duck prints run up the central support of the carousel.
One of Donald’s nephews sits on the Germany-inspired horse, wearing a lederhosen and holding a chocolate-dipped Mickey pretzel.
The horse has a cuckoo clock on its side and bushy brown hair.
This horse is inspired by France, with flower detailing, an Eiffel Tower figure, and books on its side.
The fourth horse is inspired by Mexico, with the country’s flag hanging from the saddle.
It has a sugar skull face. On top of the saddle is a sombrero and piñata.
Crews were finishing up the base of the carousel this afternoon, attaching strips of gingerbread to the outside and securing pieces around the support poles.
The carousel is constructed using 434 pounds of honey, 25 pounds of spices, and 200 pounds of icing.
