The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure at Disney California Adventure has been added to Genie+ and now has a Lightning Lane queue. As a result, the standby entrance has moved.
The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure Entrance
Signs point to the new main entrance and Lightning Lane entrance.
This one, where the main entrance used to be, features Flounder and reads “Be Part of Our World, Flap your fins down to our entry” with an arrow pointing to the left.
The standby entrance and Lightning Lane entrance are now both next to Seaside Souvenirs.
Another new sign has arrows pointing to each queue.
Of course, there are Cast Members at the entrance, too.
Despite the new lane, purchasing Genie+ and reserving a Lightning Lane for Ariel’s Undersea Adventure may not be necessary – it only had a 5 minute wait when we stopped by on Wednesday.
“Tapstiles” for the Lightning Lane are near the backstage gate, before the queue turns towards the show building.
The tapstile columns have undersea theming.

The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure opened in June 2011 as part of a major update to Paradise Pier in Disney California Adventure. When part of the land became Pixar Pier, the rest was renamed Paradise Gardens Park. The ride replaced “Golden Dreams,” a film about the history of California starring Whoopi Goldberg. The film closed in 2008 and the theater was demolished, although the Palace of Fine Arts exterior remains.
A duplicate of the ride opened in 2012 as part of the “New Fantasyland” expansion in Magic Kingdom. This version is called Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid, although the rides are nearly identical. In Florida, it got an entirely new façade resembling Eric’s castle, with Ariel’s grotto next door.
