“What’s This? Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-Along” made its debut this evening for the first night of Disney Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and we were there to see it.

During Disney Jollywood Nights, guests can join Jack Skellington at Hyperion Theater for a sing-along adventure inspired by “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

The Hyperion stage, which is usually home to For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration, has been transformed, with either side of the stage blocked with black drapery featuring art of Jack Skellington, pumpkins, and more.

The sing-along begins with an appearance by Jack Skellington, using the puppet from Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Fireworks at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. This larger-than-life puppet welcomes guests to the show, explaining that it will tell a new story.

Two performers wake up on stage and begin discovering strange objects that cause different “The Nightmare Before Christmas” songs to play. There are cardboard boxes, a gramophone, a TV, and more props in the basement-like setting.

The performers do not actually speak or sing in the show, but move in time with music and react to the scenes that play on screen.

Oogie Boogie himself appears to sing his own song while the two performers try to escape him.

Once Oogie Boogie is defeated, “snow” rains down in the theater before the film’s “Finale/Reprise” plays. The two performers go back to sleep in their armchairs.

The Jack Skellington puppet returns to bring the show to a close.

The songs featured in the show are “What’s This?,” “Kidnap the Sandy Claws,” “Sally’s Song,” “Oogie Boogie’s Song,” and “Finale/Reprise.”
