The hanging corpse in the Stretching Room of the Haunted Mansion in Magic Kingdom is, in fact, still in place, according to Disney.
The Haunted Mansion’s Hanging Corpse

At Magic Kingdom, there are two Stretching Rooms so Cast Members can continually cycle guests onto the ride without a longer wait. Currently, the hanging corpse does not appear to be hanging in the left room. However, according to Disney, it is still there; the scrim is just too dirty for guests to actually see it.
Both of the above photos were taken on Friday, July 24, when we noticed what looked like an absence of the hanging corpse in the left room, when in fact an abundance of dust or dirt was blocking the view. Here they are brightened for a clearer look:
There have been rumors and internal discussions at Disney about the hanging corpse being permanently removed.
Back in 2021, Imagineer Michele Hobbs led a refurbishment of the Disneyland version of The Haunted Mansion and said of removing the hanging body, “It’s been discussed for sure. It’s definitely something that we’re thinking about.”
With 2024 updates to the Disneyland ride, the rumor cropped up again. The corpse was ultimately not removed, but Imagineer Kim Irvine said, “We’re still looking at that. That one is complicated, structurally … One thing at a time.”
That said, we have since heard word from Disney that removing the hanging corpse was no longer under consideration. But Disney has not confirmed publicly one way or another.
It’s also worth mentioning that most of the prior discussion was focused on the Disneyland version of the ride, not the Disney World version.

In the past, the corpse has been removed briefly for refurbishment while the Stretching Room has continued to operate as normal.
